risk
The capacity to anticipate, evaluate, and manage risks—ranging from public health initiatives like seatbelt mandates to environmental measures such as combating ozone depletion—has been pivotal in advancing societal well-being. Today, public debates on critical issues like health measures, climate change mitigation, and the regulation of artificial intelligence have become deeply polarized, often resistant to rational persuasion.
My research focuses on understanding how individuals perceive and make decisions about risk. By exploring the diverse psychological underpinnings of risk and risk perception, I aim to contribute to creating spaces where society can reflect, deliberate, and act collectively on the challenges we face. How can we foster environments that support thoughtful engagement with risk across differing perspectives and values? What strategies might help bridge divergent views and promote collective understanding and informed action?
