The behavioral sciences, such as psychology and economics, have developed a number of concepts and techniques - a methodological toolbox - designed to transform data into evidence. This course aims to unpack some of these tools and showcase how they can be used in practice to help us make better, informed decisions.

Data is everywhere and is being used to answer many questions concerning our wealth, health, and productivity. The aim of this seminar is to enable students to thoughtfully and actively use data science to help answer meaningful questions in a wide variety of domains. The course consists of introductory sessions on data science techniques, the application of these techniques in a group project over the course of the semester, and discussion with experts in a meet-the-expert event to learn about opportunities and challenges of data analytics in psychology and business.

The course “History of Psychology” gives an overview of the origins of psychology by mapping the development of different schools and approaches to understanding human mental life and behavior from the 19th century to the present day.

This course provides an introduction to cognitive psychology. Specifically, it aims to help students learn about central theories, models, and methods in the psychological sciences, learn about examples of applications of psychological science to real-world contexts, and reflect about the need for pluralistic explanations of human behavior.

Students writing their bachelor thesis with the Center for Cognitive and Decision Sciences are encouraged to write a research synthesis. This course aims to familiarise students with the resources needed to write a BSc thesis consisting of a research synthesis (e.g., rapid review, scoping review, systematic review, systematic review and meta-analysis).
